Well ahead of this race, we're going to test a suggestion by one of our members which is to consider adding a number of AI to the front of grid in significantly quicker cars to make for a larger field and a more interesting one hour race which is unlikely to have more than 10 competitors take the green.
We could instead have AI in appreciably slower cars and start them in the back but my gut feeling is that wouldn't work as well.
My first thought was a selection of cars from Enduracers but I may not be able to filter the cars the way that I want; we may need some stand-alone cars for this to work but I'll know soon enough.

After a reasonable amount of testing and discussion, it has been decided that we'll include AI driving Daytona Prototypes for this race. The DP cars will be the Acura, Cadillac and Mazda (all three are Steam Workshop) efnetsimracing.freeforums.net/thread/108/s397-gt3-2020-required-downloadsIt will be mandatory for everyone to subscribe to those cars, you won't be able to join the server without them. I'm thinking that I'll add one AI for each human entered. Based on recent trends, probably 8 humans and 8 AI. They'll start at the front, "skill level" set to 100%. If I can set the parameter, then I'll set aggression to 100% as well.

We might also push the start time or increase the timescale for a more dramatic and picturesque final laps of the race and the season.
Some drivers have had trouble with night lighting so we'll avoid darkness and headlights for what remains a sprint race but I wouldn't mind trying an Official Test or Fun Races with the Toyota AE86s under the lights.

Studio 397 released an update for these cars.
I won't be able to update the server until my rF2 installation is working again BUT it might be possible that because everyone obviously had the same version of the cars as the server currently has, we'll still be able to join.
Someone please try to join the server and report back. If it works, then I will hold off on updating the server until after this race.

Thank you, KJ.
The server is on version 2.91 of the Corvette from 2020-10-31.
Would you please look to see what version your installation is up to?

Never mind, I checked the folder were Steam is dumping the rfcmp files and I saw that the new version of the 'vette is 3.01 (or something greater > or = to 3).

The Studio 397 GT3 update came at a really bad time, right after I upgraded my OS but before I got it working so I lost all of the pre-update S397 GT3 cars.
I can copy and paste the previous versions from either the server (13 HOURS for a zipped download - WTF) or Coffey will help me upload to Google Drive but I'm not certain that it'll work. There's some trickery going on with the paid DLC files to prevent simply copying them from one PC to another.
The alternative is to update all of the cars one by one on the server but that's a pain in the ass, too.
I'm inclined to take a Fuck Studio 397 and Steam holiday this Sunday.

Just a reminder that we will NOT be including the Daytona Prototypes with AI for this race.
It was a good idea but is an unnecessary risk considering the high graphics demand of this track.
Mandatory pit stop between 25-35 minutes from the start, must take 4 new tires, fuel optional.

To raise the odds of me being able to race on Sunday, I am going to only enable on the server the cars that have scored points.
This way, I only need to deal with the McLarens, Bentleys, BMW, Corvette, Porsche and Radical, rather than 12 cars.
I'll also prepare for enabling all of the updated GT3 cars so we might do some post race testing while the cars and track are fresh in our minds.
Lastly, I'm going to have the Toyotas up tonight with all of the Steam Workshop tracks that are on the schedule.

I wasn't able to recover the GT3 cars that are on the server so I won't even be able to JOIN the server, let alone race.
I've enabled all of the GT3 cars as usual, maybe we'll get lucky and someone returning or new will drop in for the last race of the season.
I'll restart the server with the race settings at an appropriate time but other than that, the other admins will have to run the show.
I have the Pro Sprint points lead not factoring in the one throwaway, will be interesting to see how that plays out, disappointed to have no control over the outcome.
Good skill and have fun.

I'm confused here. Isn't the server automatically updated when you start it up? I don't get why you couldn't join. Its a shame you can't race in the final. I would call bs and redo it another time maybe when your problem is fixed?

Sorry for poor composition and edit but need to do this as fast as I can.
The server doesn't automatically update. By design or not, that's a Good Thing so that we don't get hit with functionally new cars in the middle of a series.
I believe that I could swap hard drives and restore my Windows 7 / all my sim racing installation from a system image to be able to race tonight but I'm content spending that time on something more enjoyable or productive. The fun to work ratio is way too low at the moment generally in my life so I'm done with Studio 397 GT3 for the year.
Alternatively, I would have to update the cars on the server. I'm not certain how to do that but I expect that I will have to follow the procedure that was required to install them in the first place. Manually individually download each one to the server and probably do a thing where I have to drive one of the cars on my PC to generate a file, then copy that file to the server, all the while hoping that it works.
I don't want to change the cars for the last race especially now, the day of, plus I may as well wait until we race them again so that I might only have to do that process once; every time the cars get updated, I will have to do this.
Real life problems need to be attended to first, otherwise I would have waited till after Round 15 with the Windows 10 update, albeit the worst case scenario that I had imagined wasn't this one.
I'll miss you guys but I'll be watching on Liveracers and will change the server to the Toyotas shortly after the race.

I stated somewhere that I'd have the new GT3 cars on the server immediately after the race.
That's not possible, my brain obviously threw out an auto reply which could be true if we weren't dealing with paid DLC content; with the Simmtek GT3s, for example, I would be able to install updated content easily and quickly.

I cannot access the server. I can't help. Coffey and KJ were able to join the server after the S397 BOP update. I didn't get feedback from anyone else. Time and time again it's been pointed out to please join the server during the week in case there is an issue. The server is on v2.77 of the 2017 Bentley The server is on v1.11 of the 2020 Bentley If you have those in your installed \ vehicles \ xxxxx folder then the problem is probably with the track. We are using the free Virtua LM version of Sebring not the S397 one. efnetsimracing.freeforums.net/thread/108/s397-gt3-2020-required-downloads

I hate to do this but I can't join the server either. Invalid server details is the error. I'll wait to see if anyone can get on. No biggie if it doesn't work for me Tom. Don't sweat it.

Whatever the problem is, it seems to be on the server side and changed since about Sat 23:50 PST.
This race is cancelled and will not be rescheduled to next weekend.
I'll try one more thing tonight, otherwise I'll contact NRT on Monday.

I tried joining another open server and got the same error message.
"Suzuka Japon Tautus F3 - Matsusaka Grand Prix"

After that, I successfully joined two servers:
GSO_Community Tautus - Lime Rock Park
and another Tautus server @ Kylami before that.
Afterwards, when I tried to join our server, instead of failing with the "invalid server details" message, rF2 loaded the GSO_Community Tautus server @ Lime Rock Park.

Enabled Tautus F4 @ Kyalami on our server. Same problem.
Deleted all rfmods from the server's Packages folder. No joy.
Deleted player and multiplayer JSONs. Nope.
Enabled Toyotas @ Trembling Mountain. No.
I'm done for today. Server is up with the Toyotas @ Trembling Mountain in case something fixes itself.
