Kicked off for me with Fun Races Tuesday evening hosted by Ray eSports, Mustang FR500S / Global Mazda MX-5 for Race 2 and Formula Vee, Formula Ford and Lotus 79 (?) for Race 2, both @ Watkins Glen with the Bus Stop.
Most opted for the Mustang, the Top 6 within a car length or two for most of the race, with me the laggard. I've been trying to get used to using the clutch with H-pattern cars because it is slightly faster but while many can be downshifted with just a blip, the Mustang needs clutch and blip. My pedals are set up for left foot braking with the brake pedal as far away from the throttle as I can get it so heel and toe is not an option.
Happily, my Logitech Pro wheel has clutch paddles so I can downshift and clutch at the same time with one hand but three or four times when I was on the verge getting back in the draft I missed a downshift and had to start over. Clean race, though, as expected.
The formula car race was fantastic, at least for the three of us in the Vees. I was on pole but my lead lasted until the Bus Stop whose curbing the Vee didn't like on cold tires so I promptly threw away my race trying to steer across the curbs at full throttle when I lost control and crashed with heavy damage. I was able to drive back to the pits and get a new car thanks to the one available Fast Repair and rejoined Stevie and Joshua towards the end of my out lap which guess would have been Lap 3 for them and enjoy the nose to tail draft battle from there to the end which finished with the three of us covered by less than 1/2 a car length and P1 and P2 by less than 1/2 a wheel. From the pic, it looks like I won but I am actually third, a lap down.
