In stark contrast to rFactor 2 End of Days, iRacing keeps getting better and better, always forward steps.
The biggest thing for me this update is that they improved the software's efficiency to allow 12 different car models per race, up 50% from 8. My CPU had been maxed out while the grid was forming and joining a server took a very long time. I assumed that iRacing would move forward without me and increase from the 8-car limit and that would be what finally forced a PC upgrade for me but it seems that I'm in the clear for now.
Rain is coming but I am pleased that iRacing won't release it until it's great.
The Prototype (GTP) category is now up to four cars: Acura ARX-06, BMW M Hybrid, Cadillac V Series R and Porsche 963.
The Ferrari 296 GT3 has arrived.
One new track, Circuit de Ledenon. I'm waiting for schedules to be finalized before I buy anything so I haven't tried it yet but it's reportedly fantastic with the Formula Ford.
Weekly series got changed noticeably.
There's a new spec series for the Mustang FR500S. It's fixed setup which a lot if not a majority of people prefer. iRacing tends to make fixed setups too understeery so I'm on the fence but pleased that there might be a 25 car grid place to race the Mustang (other than the SCCA Runoffs). To see 8 Mustangs in a Sim Lab PCC is a miracle and really hard for new drivers as the notionally slower cars are often faster with a good driver which puts a ton of pressure on slower drivers in the Ford.
The IMSA iRacing series now requires an A license for the 11-car, 3-class (GTP, LMP2 and GT3) series and is offered in both Open and Fixed.
