Sim Lab PCC @ Road Amerrica, Skip Barber @ Interlagos and FF Weekend Warriors @ Belle Isle for me this week.
Coffey and I did some laps with the Sim Lab Mustang Wednesday evening. I, regrettably, signed up for a race immediately afterwards as it was good timing and there looked to be a good number of Mustangs so I gambled on the register button with 20 seconds left.
Qualifying almost went well, was on pace for a PB but blew the last corner for about the 10th time that evening (probably had too much front brake) with an off-track and spin so I got mired with the riffraff P7 on grid. Some consolation was that judging by the qualifying times, I should have the pace to hang with the leaders and easily clear of the riffraff and the highest ranked Mustang driver was gridded in front of me. Unfortunately, now two-time Gold Star recipient Frederick Harris (D2.66 x 843, Florida) dive bombed us at T5 on Lap 1. I saw it coming, avoided contact and left room for the car to my right but that guy didn't manage it as well and turned down on me to be spun around as roadblock that sent me far, far to the back with a 4X. I was fuming which cost me 2 more X and desperate to try to catch someone with my SR already gone to shit didn't want to lose a bunch of iR, too. That put me in an awkward position stuck behind a Clio and GR86 inexplicably racing each other forming a rolling road block on the start/finish straight. I eventually found space to squeeze between them to be ahead before T1 but I spent too much attention on them and went wide for another X. 7X total. I apparently got lucky with some gamers quitting or causing drivers to quit so I finished 5th of 11. I don't remember passing any Mustangs. Maybe one that one off track? Four quitters so maybe one or two pitted for repairs.
I want to get my SR back to 4.99 so either need to enter official race and get lucky or spend at least 3 times as long with Time Trials.
I'm ready to give up on Participation Credit next season and just do the league races on Sunday. I had a nice streak going for awhile with official races but now I'm on a bad one. I always aim high and set $10 as the goal but I usually on rack up $8, that third series is only worth $2.
