Time Trials are a way to get "paid" for practicing with 35% of the risk and reward of race laps.
They are also the basis for your TT Rating.
If you care about your TT Rating, which is based on speed, but are doing a Time Trial to gain SR, you can insulate yourself from affecting you TTR by doing fewer consecutive laps than are required to count as a Time Trial. This way you can lap conservatively to gain SR without lowering your TTR. If the number of laps required is 5 then exit before your cross start/finish on Lap 5, don't complete the lap.
