If you get a 'Verification File Error' when updating iRacing like me. What worked was to: Go to where you have iRacing installed (by default that is C:\Program Files (x86)\iRacing) and right click on the file called "version_system.txt" choose Rename and change the name to something like "version_system.txt.old". Then I deleted the folder called "downloads" (reference in your C:\Program Files (x86)\iRacing folder or where you installed iRacing) Then log back into iRacing and you should then be prompted to update. More detail and a continuation if the problem persists: support.iracing.com/support/solutions/articles/31000155062-verification-failure-error-while-updating#:~:text=If%20you%20see%20this%20error,txt

Thanks Pat. Good to know. Hope I don't get that error as my dl speed isn't up to par like yours.

Once again I sat down on Sunday and the new update shut me down. Full unistall and reinstall got me back up and running. Hoping to get on this weekend!

I've been having issues with my connection, especially in iracing. We had a power outage last Friday & since then I'm seeing constant disappearing of cars around me, every 2-3 seconds lasting less than a second. It is extremely dicey to race when this is happening. I searched around & packet loss seems to be the culprit. I ran a packet loss test & I am seeing the odd drop so that may be the problem. I reboot my router & also the pc and this seems to work sometimes but the next day it is back. I might get the odd session where it is good for a while also. I will swap routers tomorrow & hope that fixes the issue. If not, maybe the connection is unstable since the power outage. Man it sucks when stuff doesn't work.

Thanks for the info Tom. Still working on trying to find the problem.
On top of all that, my dad passed Sunday morning. I found him bent over in the tub. Not a good couple days so far. Not in the mood for racing so I ditched last night & won't be on for a bit with all the shit a death brings around.
2023 is off to a roaring start...

I hopped on a practice server to see if the problem was still there - it is. Strangely I don't have the slightest problem with ACC or AMS2. I sent iRacing a ticket & hopefully they can help out. Seems like it happened after a recent update sometime in the first week of January. Until then I can't chance a race as I become a danger to everyone around me.

I may have found the problem to my iracing misery. Looking at the antenna dishes on top of our elevator leg today, I noticed a fair amount of ice on them. They're @ 100 feet in the air so I took some shots with my drone. Yikes. At least 1 and maybe 2 inches of ice covering them. According to my provider, he checked it out & definitely that would be my problem. I asked when he started having problems. Jan. 4. I had a race on the 4th & it was alright but on the 7th is when I started having the problem. Hopefully he'll get rid of that ice tomorrow if he can get up there. I'm anxious to find out if that's it.

My sentiments exactly Mike. I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well. My folks are 80 and they are alive like they're on fire but as time goes by I often think what I'm going to do or how I'm going to handle it when they pass. Its almost like a ticking time bomb to me. So maybe thats another reason why I haven't been full bore on my rig. I've been spending a lot of time with my family and work just keeps getting in the way. I don't know, half the time I think work is going to kill me or poof, the missles have been launched. Just my folks, there age, trying to retire, my heads a mess blah blah nevertheless I wish you and your family the best of wishes. Glad to hear it was quick though/painless. Life is short, enjoy what you have and never take anything for granted. I will catch up with you guys as soon as I can. And as I write this, 8:23pm on a Friday night and what am I doing - working on real life work...., like normal.

Thanks for the kind words Pat. Even though we knew it would eventually happen, it was still a shock. At the worn but not broken yet age of 53, I still broke down like a little kid. As corny as it sounds, time does heal wounds. Now we concentrate on the matriarch & take care of her.

I just ran a race with the Beetle in an IRX series. Practice seemed to go well with no cars disappearing. I joined a race, P3 qualy. Everything was going well until the 5th lap I think when cars decided to leave off & on. I had to give room when I couldn't see them. I hit the wall a couple times which made the steering way off & the car was loose afterwards. I could see the incident warning everytime but it kept saying 0/17. Odd. Anyways I managed to finish the race in 6th out of 8 cars. Lost 36 iR but gained .06 SR! 0 incidents in the report. Man my connection was fucked.
I tried to climb the elevator leg this afternoon to get that ice off but I only went up a couple rungs & my feet were sliding left & right. There was still ice on them so I decided to leave it be. 100 feet up in the air is a bit dangerous with ice on the ladder. Maybe Monday.

I broke the ice off the dishes yesterday & ran a few laps later in the day. Racing on a euro server but it all seemed good. I did see a guy disappear but the others stuck around so that means he was the problem. Will try later tonight.

Tried a practice server tonight but the problem is back. I noticed during the week that it was acting up again. It might be the cold affecting the signal maybe. Who knows. It's my first winter on wireless internet. I'll give it a try tomorrow night but this is truly getting frustrating.

IT guy added an extra dish to pick up signal in case of more ice/bad weather. He also upped my download speed from 10 to 20 mb/s. I ran a couple practice rooms tonight & everything seemed in order. Hopefully the problem is gone. iRacing helped me with the problem also. I used pingplotter to log some sessions. Since the new speed boost, the results have been good.
