The possibilities for me this week are IMSA Pilot Challenge @ Charlotte, Advanced Mazda @ Red Bull Ring, Sim Lab PCC @ Lime Rock, Global Fanatec @ Laguna Seca and VRS GT Sprint @ Bathurst.
I'm a little scared of Michelin Pilot but I need to get past that, Charlotte is fresh in my mind and I'm growing to like the track. My focus would be the BMW M4 GT4 car but I'm having an inkling to do some laps with the Civic Type-R, having not driven it in weeks put off by the pogo rear suspension, shop vac hose air leak sound under throttle and stats and results indicating that the Civic is off pace and I'm struggling enough with the rear drive cars that learning iRacing front drive dynamics makes little sense. I'm also hoping for a Mustang GT4 car soon .
I don't love Lime Rock and I can get 8 Sim Lab PCC races in this season without it but I am trying to bond with the Mustang so I'll probably put in some time.
I love the Mazdas but I'm not a fan of the Mazda crowd nor the stat that I haven't had more than one clean race at Red Bull Ring with any series. Complete shame, as it's a track that should race great (has raced great until it didn't) but, unfortunately, my current station in iRacing life will probably have me taking the safe route and skipping to avoid 3 hours of Time Trials to pay for getting punted by some dipshit.
I like Laguna Seca but not so much for racing and I already gave up on the Cadillac last week at Road America which is great for hot laps AND racing.
I spent a fair amount of time on paint for the Mercedes AMG and Audi R8 GT3 cars and 24 hours with the Audi so there are connections there, I like the 40 minute races and I like Bathurst but, again, reward to risk factors in bigly @ Bathurst. Maybe I can let go of that (IR) somewhat trusting myself to be heads up to incidents ahead and knowing that I can get IR back with work but I don't know that GT3 cars are what I want to be racing. Too fast for close racing, too many adjustments, arguably better off with Porsche Cup that I lost interest in with the new 992 and the 2022 Season 1 schedule. I'm far from fast so it's high time that I get expert at one car before I delve into others and at this point GT3 is 4th or 5th down the list that I want to race in the future.
Looks like Sim Lab PCC and Michelin Pilot for me this week with GT3 @ Bathurst a possibility if I need a longer race to recover IR.
