With my road racing license maxed out on A:4.99, I was motivated to improve my paved oval and dirt road D licences so I did some Time Trial and races with both of those.
Two Street Stock races. The first one was pretty rough. 1-3 laps in, I bumped a car which was fine for a brief moment until he bumped another car that lost control and we all got caught up in it and then I got caught in two to four other messes ending with I think 15X and losses on SR and iR. The second race at the same time as KJ and Pat went better, great actually for maybe 5-7 minutes until I got caught in someone else's wreck but escaped with only that incident and no noticeable damage to finish P7 and gain SR and iR. If I buy something that is eligible for C license and do four races or time trials then my paved oval would promote to a C at the end of the season.
One Rally-X with maybe 30 minutes practice beforehand was pretty fun. I can't remember where I started and finished but I'm pretty sure that it was a clean race and didn't lose any positions.
The only road racing race that I did was Sim Lab PCC @ Charlotte Roval with the Ford Mustang FR500S. I've seen enough of this class that I'm almost convinced that it's a good class, the fast guys are good to race with and the ones that might accidentally cause problems are off pace and crash on their own. A major negative is low turnout so it can be very punishing to iRating. Last week, I with my 1600 iR was matched with a 3500 iR and a 2500 iR rated driver. We finished in descending iR order, as expected, and, as expected, the winner gained iR, 2nd place lost 1 or 2 and I lost the same amount that the winner gained. Makes absolutely no sense but, whatever, it is what it is. My plan is to spend more time with the Mustang in preparation for iRacing rendition of the SCCA Runoffs when I hope there will be a full grid. Anyway, the race went fine, clean race. I might have had a good race for P2 but I let him pass me early (usual no trust issue for me), he bobbled immediately and I over-reacted to that and bobbled worse which gifted him a 2-3 second gap that I was whittling down until we got into multi-class lapper traffic and I got the short end more often than he did and he built a comfortable gap. 1X for a wheel off in one of the chicanes, PB with my first 1:30.xxx, my SR can't improve but I gained some iR, for whatever that's worth.
I was interested in Global Fanatec @ Road America with the Cadillac CTS-V R but quickly got frustrated with no feel for what is happening with the front tires. It might be a little better with the Miata and Mustang but I think that it's more than I can better assess my trajectory sooner with those slower cars and they probably don't break away as suddenly with less "peaky" tires and possibly/probably more slip angle.
