Looks like Global Fanatec Challenge (Road Atlanta / Cadillac), IMSA Pilot Challenge (Road Atlanta / BMW M4 GT4) and Sim Lab PCC (Oran Park / Mustang) for me this week.
Without doing any laps, PCC @ Oran Park seems like a low priority. I can skip a round or two and still get 8 rounds in and I LIKE Road Atlanta so, yeah, most of my laps will be at Road Atlanta.

Week 9

Post by K Juliot on Nov 15, 2021 15:39:56 GMT
Had a pretty good weekend of iRacing, I only did the Sim Labs Challenge with the Mazda.
Saturday nights race was a rough one but finished 9th and ahead of were I qualified in 11th.
Sunday nights races were about the same, race one started 12th and finished 8th. Pat and I got a great start and were 4th and 5th after the first lap but Pat went wide in turn one after the first laps and I got punted out of 4th a little later. Race two gridded in 10th and got another good start with Pat, after a bit I got by and was running all the way up to 2nd place for awhile till I got dumped in the last turn. Managed to at least finish in 4th, and karma got the guy that punted me, he ended up getting DQ's near the end of the race for too may incidents.
Got a nice boost in iRating over the weekend but took hits in safety, the two races on Sunday had a 15 and then a 13 incidents, ouch!

I was watching a bit of one of your races last night...there was one car that definitely liked your rear bumper.

Hi Chris! I know I have some sort of issue at the last corner on that track and loose a bunch of time to everyone there which allows people to pass me down the straight or ram into me.
I'll probably be investing in some iRacing content for the winter so thinking the Porsche 992 and a few tracks.

Week 9

Ended up + and + for the week which hasn't happened in a long time. I caused one incident and caught up in another but neither of those two were horrible, more minor mistakes than over aggressive or out of control behavior by anyone involved and I don't remember any real scares in any of the races other than weaving through a multi-car wreck with a car or two not completely stationary.
Week 9 Race 1: 2021-11-10 23:30 / Global Fanatec Challenge @ Road Atlanta (Cadillac CTS-V)
Maybe 15 minutes of practice beforehand, fastest lap of the race by the guy that started in the back and finished second. Crew Chief announced his fastest lap in the 1:21s, saw that he was closing in on me pretty quick, didn’t trust him to avoid contact so I let him pass rather than try to be perfect and defensive, perfectly happy with P4 of 13 drivers.
Q3 / R4 / 0X / +0.11 / +25 ( B / 4.51 / 1525)
Week 9 Race 2: 2021-11-12 22:15 / IMSA Pilot Challenge @ Road Atlanta (BMW M4 GT4)
Great race until 3 laps from the end running top 6 in a group with Chris Sherburn, Rich Minkler and Rich Coffey. A slower class car was astonishingly slow in the esses and there was some contact that ended with innocent collateral damage Sherburn and myself off track and stationary with damage. I had zero incidents to that point, ended with 13.
Q10 / R9 / 13X / -0.28 / -1 (B / 4.23 / 1524)
Week 9 Race 3: 2021-11-13 22:30 / Sim Lab PCC @ Oran Park Grand Prix (Pontiac Solstice)
Q1 / R1 / 2X / +0.06 / +38 (B / 4.29 / 1562)
Week 9 Race 4: 2021-11-13 22:30 / Sim Lab PCC (Ford Mustang FR500S)
Safety Rating maintenance race, no other entries. Had a 0X going until the last lap when I converged with a Mazda at the kink (T1?) and dropped a wheel trying to give him the maximum amount of track. I should have rolled out of it on the straight and followed as there wasn’t anything to be gained with a pass; unnecessary risk.
Q1 / R1 / +0.11 / +0 (B / 4.40 / 1562)
Week 9 Race 5: 2021-11-14 16:15 / ISMA Pilot Challenge (BMW M4 GT4)
Three splits influenced me to enter the race with little warmup. Good if not very fun race until I got together with one of the Caymans at T1. He’d been a little aggressive on a prior lap and I had a run out of the last corner. No front end grip got me and I pushed out into him (Chris Szabo), we went door-to-door which got him out of shape to be collected by the car behind him and another. I think that it would have been an easy save for any of us but I still felt bad about it, no excuse, my fault after seeing the replay. He gave me about as much room as he safely could. PM sent. Hating the BMW at the moment, no front end feel, chronic understeer.
Q15 / R5 / -0.00 / +54 (B / 4.40 / 1616)
Week 9 Race 6: 2021-11-14 19:30 / Sim Lab PCC (Ford Mustang FR500S)
Camaraderie sent me to the grid for this one. Pat, KJ and Dave all entered with Miatas. I had zero time with the Mazda and still consider the Mazda class to be risky so I hopped in with the Mustang in a class of three with two faster drivers. I spun on corner exit from the last corner on Lap 1 which at least got me away from Mazdas nipping at my heels but added 2X to my incident count. Ran around without further incident. Considering the iRating hit and that SR is easy enough to get back, I would have been better off with some practice and a Mazda where I probably only would have needed a Top 10 and might have had more fun.
Q3 / R3 / +0.03 / -48 (B / 4.43 / 1568)
Week 9 Race 7: 2021-11-14 20:30 / Sim Lab PCC (Ford Mustang FR500S)
Since I was warmed up and the timing was right.
Had a methhead alert on the grid with a V8 at high revs continually as we waited for the grid to form up. I got clear of that nonsense on the start but in overly common iRacing unsportsmanlike manner, the Mazda polesitter took off before the green to the extent that he outran the Mustang by a big margin to the kink. I didn’t care about the overall position for myself but it did complicate my plans to let the (quicker lap time) top 3 or so Mazdas by on the front straight on Lap 2 so that I wouldn’t interfere with their race. Don’t remember much else other than being quicker potentially over the course of a lap as the P2 Mazda who was ahead of me for much of the race but there was no need to race with him. About ¾ race distance he apparently settled for P2 in class without a Mustang filling his mirrors and let me by on the front straight where I was able to pull away a little.
Q1 / R1 / 0X / +0.14 / +37 (B / 4.61 /1605)

Hi Chris! I know I have some sort of issue at the last corner on that track and loose a bunch of time to everyone there which allows people to pass me down the straight or ram into me. I'll probably be investing in some iRacing content for the winter so thinking the Porsche 992 and a few tracks. 992 Cup is a fun car. Certainly one of my favs on the service (though I preferred the old, more temperamental 991 Cup a little bit more). No TCS or ABS keep you honest (and on edge). If you wait a couple weeks before leasing anything, next season's schedules should be coming out soon. Then you can see what is coming up for the series you prefer and be able to pick tracks appropriately. One thing I did to ease the sting was limit myself to 3 pieces of content each season. Just enough to get the "bulk" discount. It takes a bit of time that way, but it's not as big a blow to the account...and gives you an out before you get too deep if you decide it's really not for you.
