Got the first race of the season out of the way with no prior practice last night, Soltice @ Laguna Seca. The pole sitter did the stupid wave start thing again. A Mustang looped it in front of me @ T2 with only a few laps left and I had nowhere to go so there was a collision. I violated track limits twice @ Corkscrew.
6 incident points, P3, safety (+) and iRating (+)
Sim Lab is one of the series that I can do at least 8 rounds with and I was feeling like I was running out of time week so I jumped in with the car that I have the most time with and also seems like the lowest risk but going forward I'm going to try to focus on the Mustang which should eliminate the rolling start shenanigans, its probably better to be the faster car in regard to lapped traffic and the Ford is more fun to practice with.

Spent about 20 minutes @ Charlotte last night with the Porsche Cup car.
I'm starting to like the track even though it's more difficult than it seems like it should be.
Most of the corners are difficult to solve and there's the seemingly typical iRacing inconsistent track limits but it's wide and might even race okay by virtue of being able to take a different line than your opponent, at least for passing purposes.

I ran 2 races last night in the Pickup Cup at Daytona. Race 1 I started 21st & finished 7th. Got side swiped in lap 1, damaged the truck but kept going till the end. Lots of others pitted so my decision worked out.
Race 2 I started 24th & finished 14th. I'd had a few beers by then but I was punted by someone. Not my fault - honest! I only had 4 incident points in each race which is pretty good.
The funny thing was listening to the chat during practice. Ovals attract rednecks (no harm intended but I don't think any race with us & if they do I apologize). Chat was filled with anti-vaxxers, Trumpists, anti-Faucis, baby eating George Soros. It was like listening to Alex Jones. It was hilarious. It was very political. Lots of drunk dudes racing & claiming they were the fastest only to drop out in lap 1.
But the rush of running side by side flat out is something you don't get with road racing. It is an absolute blast. I will hop into a race or two tonight hoping others will follow.
Harvest is upon us here in Ontario so I probably won't be doing much for the next couple of months. Monday looks like go time for the season.

Pretty good week of racing for me. Safety rating up about 0.50 and iRating up about 200 points.
Survived two Porsche Cup races with no incidents with other cars, had close racing with BMW 12.0 M4 GT4 and Advanced Miata MX-5 with a first race first win with the M4, padded my stats a little with the Solstice, am growing to like Time Trials and completed 8 of 10 laps before getting crashed out of the lead with the NASCAR truck after 5-7 races that were stupid fun despite the low skill level and possible juvenile hooliganism that keeps ruining those races.
There are now two Porsche Cup series, one has a fixed (no adjustments) setup, the other has minimal adjustments like we're used to with Porsche Cup. The best of both worlds plus Porsche Cup racing available every hour now. It was pretty nice to cool off for 15 minutes and get back in the car for another race. I've been gravitating towards the 20:45 & 22:45 Sunday time slots but now there's 21:45 with the fixed series that just might be perfect timing.
BMW was great. The cars are easy to control to the extent that they feel slow despite the big numbers on the speedometer. I have a feeling that they will prove to be my favorite series for the season because of the close racing that they should produce while making pretty cool noises and immersive dynamics.
Advanced Miata is a mix of 25 and 45 minute races. This week was a 45 minute. Pretty cool to slowly reel in a car over 30+ minutes for a close race to the checkers. Made it two laps from the end until the driver that I was battling with ran out of wheel to wheel skill and pushed me off on last corner exit oblivious to the reality that the only place my car could possibly be is to his left. I veered off at an angle that put me into the wall. I'm not certain what happened to him but I think that he quit. I was much more disappointed than angry, we were having such a great race that should have resulted in an epic finish.
