Each car is in its own class.
I've avoided the perceived mayhem of the Miata group, don't own the Mustang, have only done a lap or two with the Soltice and have maybe 7 races with the Jetta since I joined iRacing.
It seems like there's usually a handful of Mustangs and Jettas with a bunch of Miatas and no Soltices.
A race with no other Jettas improved my safety rating immensely but was disregarded for iRating. I haven't done a race with only two cars in-class so I don't know what happens then.
With the Jettas being slower on lap time than the Miata and the Mustang, there's less chance of getting taken out from behind in the early laps but I did while leading the Jettas by 12 seconds have a dipshit "B" driver in a Miata that was running last in class with no competitors in sight dive bomb me at Honda corner. I saw him coming, so I negated my initial turn-in and went as wide as I could but he still clobbered me. I waited for him to go so that he wouldn't be behind me again but he didn't go, either. Made for a stressful final few laps as my margin dropped to under 2 seconds and P2 was faster than his qualifying time indicated.
Unfortunately, despite ratings and consequences drivers make dumb moves due to lack of experience or poor racecraft.
I'll probably try the Soltice again soon. In real life, those were great club racing cars.
The Mustang is interesting from its "bio" but I don't need to buy any more cars, already too many to be able to spend time with each.
I'll try to pay more attention to the Miatas, watch some replays, maybe less of a cluster than I think, they are certainly good cars.

Did a race with the Soltice @ Philip Island. It was actually okay to drive. Slowest of the 4 cars as I expected.
The biggest problem for me (and I'm growing to feel like it's a universal iRacing thing is) is chronic understeer and no feel from the front end. I pushed off at turn one at least 6 times with no hint on turn-in that I was going to go wide.
I'm going to drive every iRacing car that I have to see if ANY of them can be made to drop throttle oversteer to the same extent that they understeer.
Beyond that, it's obviously the same for everyone so I just need to learn how to drive it.

Did some setup work which improved things with the Soltice to the extent that I think that we should as a group jump into a race or two with them instead of beating the dead rF2 horse Saturday and/or Sunday night.

Got the Soltice working pretty good. DH and I did a couple of races last Sunday night with some great wheel to wheel and a nose to tail finish.
Coffey raved about "the most intense racing" when he jumped into the Miata class so I'm going to get comfortable with that car and do races with it, too.

Found this thinning out one of the storage areas at our house, 2000 Ford Mustang FR500. I only skimmed the article but 5.0 liter, DOHC, 415 HP normally aspirated, Tremec 6-speed, and completely reworked front suspension with double wishbones moved forward 6 inches, big brakes, 9 and 10 inch wide wheels. That sent me looking for the Ford Mustang FR500S that is in iRacing. Here's that: performanceparts.ford.com/fr500-race-cars/

Wow what a find! Is the Mustang free in iracing? If so, it is worth trying out. A real loose rear end makes it fun.

The Mustang FR500S is paid content. Coffey bought it. He obviously can comment on it better but it makes good noises and is easier to drive than the Porsche 991 GT3 Cup car.
