Sorry Tom when you mentioned it last night I forgot to ask you how your first race went?

Thanks, KJ.
The first race went great, beginner's luck maybe.
I thought that it might be the last day for Road America with Porsche iRacing Cup (I didn't buy the next 2 tracks on the schedule) so I put in some time Sunday afternoon and entered the 14:45 or 16:45 race.
I finished 4th, I think. I gained a bunch of spots on the standing start launch and some more when cars got together before Turn 1. I had no confidence anywhere from braking to apex so whatever position I gained was from others' mistakes, albeit I might have pressured a couple. I think that I was up as high as P3 but I myself made a couple of mistakes but nothing too consequential.
After our fun races, I was in the mood for some more serious, so I entered another Porsche GT3 Cup race. Gained spots on the start again and stayed out of trouble, can't remember if I avoided any costly mistakes, finished 5th I think.
My third race (this afternoon) was shaping up to be the most satisfying with some actual wheel to wheel racing but a car wandered back onto the track at Canada corner and took out the car ahead of me and me while we were having a good race with positions traded. The body damage really affected the top speed, I had to let 3 or 4 cars by on the front straight on just the next lap. Later in the race, I looped out exiting Canada corner and into the inside barrier which rendered me the last or second to last car on the lead lap.
Great, good and bad for the first three; Safety Rating / iRating, up/up, down/up and down/down. Might be a good thing as it took some ups and downs for Coffey and I to have essentially the same iRating (which should determine if we are assigned to the same race) so now I'm back to when we were essentially tied.
I need a lot more seat time with iRacing in general but probably more so the Porsches. After three races and 30-45 minutes practice / setup before each, my car placement is getting better but I have little trust in the car or myself, especially braking where I'm happy to simply get her slowed down for the corner, no dreams of getting racy. The Top 5 in the last race were within reach of each other till near the end when it was between two cars for the win and they pulled off really close racing so it is entirely possible.
The plan is to get more ready for Hockenheim (Week 7) and race Weeks 7-11.
iRacing pays credits for participation but I think that you have to enter and score points in 8 weeks of a series so that's not possible for me at this point with the Porsche Cup.

Cool Tom. I'll buy the car at some point here I'm sure.

I just now realized that Lime Rock is base content after believing that it was paid content.
It's far from a favorite for me so I didn't buy it and wrote off this week but I now intend to get a race or two in, probably Saturday night.

This week is a short layout of Hockenheim. High 1:26s after about 30 minutes of practice. The setup seems okay, having trouble with track limits, think I'm staying away from usable racing surface. I'll practice during the week to be in a position to race by Friday night but the way that things are evolving Sunday night, 20:45 or 22:45 will likely be my Porsche Cup race time.

Tough sledding in three races this week @ Hockenheim. I cumulatively spent about 25 minutes in the pits and lost about 0.4 safety rating and 200+ iRating between Porsche Cup and a one-off Miata race through no fault of my own.
Seemingly got lost with setup, tweaked and flailed with more improvement seemingly coming from track knowledge than the car. Mixing in a Miata race earlier in the evening didn't help, either.
The most aggrevating incident was a car that was 2-4 rows ahead that was slow to get away from the line on the start then jumped sideways when I was alongside at 60+ mph which redirected me at a 22 degree angle into the car that was a little behind me on my left and put us both into the wall. The offender went on to finish 6th with little or no apparent damage to his car. Frederick Sorensen...
Too many people are incompetent at standing starts but the rolling starts seem to be gamed, never a proper formation when we get the green.
By the end of practice for the last race, I was enjoying the car. If the races were hourly I would have done another one (I'll do it this time, lol) so I'm kinda glad that they are two hours apart.
This week is Philip Island.
